Asterisk VoIP News Wins "Top 25 VoIP Blog" Awards for 2nd Year

Today I got an email pointing me over to VoIP-News for the second annual "Top 25 VoIP Blogs" award and we were happy to see that our blog has won for the second straight year.  Even being mentioned along side some of the Titans in the industry like Andy, Om Malik, Rich, Jeff Pulver and O'Reilly sent tingles down my back.  This blog was first started with me not knowing enough about VoIP and Asterisk so I felt if I started blogging about it, that in turn would increase in knowledge but also create a resource for others trying to find out whats new in the Asterisk and VoIP World.

It has been a crazy trip also being able to hear about scandals first hand and even break a couple news stories myself.  Thanks again to VoIP-News for the award and I am going to even work harder in 2008 to bring even more news and information.

Happy New Year 2007 - Year End Site Statistics

Editor's Comment: I hope everyone had a productive year in 2006.  Here I have seen much change in VoIP technology over the last 12 months.  Asterisk has come of age and is knocking on the door for mass adoption.  VoIP bloggers have really become the go to source for "up to the second" news and commentary.  Old Ma Bell is starting to come to the conclusion that she is better than her pieces.  Net Neutrality has had one of its first major battles and has won a sort of temporary victory with the aid of capitalism.  Tom Keating has keep to his word about championing the common consumer via his insightful piece on Vonage's Crack Customer Service

VoIP security risks are now being realized and people "are' taking notice.  As the old adage goes, "with great power come great responsibility."  In all I see great strides in people taking a more open source-open input when creating all these new VoIP based apps.  Lately I have been using Skype's video conferencing capabilities on my new laptop, I am still amazed that this app is free and works right out the box.  2007 we should see more improvement and more brilliant ideas come to bear for us to beta test and break

AVN Update: Tag Cloud

Ok I admit it.  I have given into the web 2.0 trend that has taken hold on the web.  I love it.  Any trend that comes along and pushes usability improvements and user generated review and content, I am all for it.  Bring it on in large amounts.  I have added the "tag cloud" to Asterisk VoIP News today and I am impressed with the visual improvement achieved.  Please send in your comments if you like or hate this new addition.  Also if you don't see some other addition that we should add to improve your experience please let us know.  This site is as much the user’s site as it is our own.  Have a good week and enjoy the site.
